Writing content can be a difficult thing especially if you are a beginner and haven’t created content before. However it doesn’t have to be a difficult if you follow the proper guidelines when writing content. We understand that narrow down to the right topic can be tough but if you know what to look for you can pretty much streamline the entire process. From my experience there are 4-5 things to pay close attention to when you are searching for the right topic.
Let’s get started...
Topic
Obviously the first thing to pay attention to is your topic and the point of your blog. You have decided to start a blog on a specific topic so it’s important that your content reflects your niche. If you have a blog on “link building” but your content is about automobiles than not only are you confusing search engines but your reads as well. Stick to your topic and make sure you plan ahead writing down ideas that come to you throughout the day. This way when you are about to write content, you’ll be able to select from the bunch listed and will choose something relevant.
Audience
Before writing any type of content make sure you think about your audience and what they like to read. Your audience has been searching for a solution to their problems so make sure you cater you content to their need. It’s a great way to build loyalty and provide them with “targeted” content that people are actually looking for. If people are not searching the topics on content you are looking for than it might be tough to build loyalty. There are a few tricks you can use to check what your reads are looking for.
a) Search forums looking for questions that people have been asking, etc
b) Perform keyword research looking for targeted keywords in the form of questions that have traffic
c) Visit question and answer websites like Ask.com or Yahoo Answers. These sites are strictly question based websites which can provide you with a long list of Q&A’s
Popular
You revive popular content making it better providing it with more substance by visiting your competitors. If you are trying to find the popular content, simply visit the top competitor’s websites looking for content which has the most shares, etc. Skim over the content looking for ways to improve the content making it more in-depth including videos, images and even infographics if that what is missing. Every niche will be full of competitors however there is NO reason to be nervous about this if you know how to use it to your advantage.
Consider Your Readers
You can setup a form online which allows your readers to submit recommendations. This works well especially if you don’t have too many topic to write about going forward. Many of the top bloggers who have been in the industry for years are beginning to do this because they’ve covered almost ever topic on their blog. They are now asking new readers or existing followers for their input. What you can do is setup a form and accept recommendations for about a month looking for questions which have been asked several times. It’s a great way to find out what popular topics and questions people want you to write about. You can than work at putting some in depth content together covering all the related questions which were asked.
What’s New?
This is a great way to generate awesome content because you are essentially keeping up with the news than beating your competitors into creating content. Technology is always changing and there’s always something to write about. The tricky part if staying on top of the changing trends however the good news is that there are APPS which will streamline the entire process compiling a list of the top technology news and sending it to your computer or mobile phone. Look through news which is amazing and you know will create a buzz then put some in-depth content together and simply publish.
